Today level 4B learnt about metric conversations. We had to figure out how much mm can fit in a cm and how many cm can fit in a meter and more. Then we had follow up task to complete on a sheet similar the to the work we did with Teacher here is a photo of the work sheet:)
Team tui’s collaborative maths/measuring
Today for maths team Tui had to buddy up and to make a shape and measure the perimeter of the shape, and across the arc. We tried using string but ended up using a ruler. We found out there are different ways of measuring.
Figurative Language
Yesterday team Tui learnt about figurative language. For this activity we had to sort different types of figurative language, definition and match it with an example.
R13 Matariki art
Last week R13 did art based around Matariki. We were inspired to use the different stars in the Matariki cluster. For me I used Tupu-a-nuku and Hiwaiterangi which mean rain and good fortune. Down below you can see my beautiful art:)
That was matariki
On the first couple of days of term 3 Team Tui has been doing some writing on Matariki and learning about the history behind it.
For our writing, we had to make a poem using our 5 senses which are “SMELL”, “FEEL” “TASTE”, “HEAR” and “SEE”. First of all my brain didn’t want to cooperate and just wanted to go to sleep but I managed to finish so I’m happy. |
Room 13s Kelly sport session
Today room 13 went out for Kelly sports to learn the different basics of rugby and to increase our confidence for this week’s tournament. The drills we did were learning how to scrum, tackle, pass, and how to play the ball. After we learned the following skills we played a game of rugby that was very entertaining to see the girls going against the boys. I was surprised to see how good the girls were at rugby.
Today I had lots of fun playing with my friends. I gained a lot of confidence in my tackling. Can’t wait to do it again next week. We also had to include our Whakatauki of the week which is (Tama tu Tama ora Tama noho Tama mate) He who stands lives he who sits perishes.
Also a big thank you to coach Tray and Deon for making this possible:)
Dear Miss Helen
Kia ora and greetings to you all.
This is my appreciation letter to Miss helen saying how I thank her for leaving home to participate in this rare event. Also making camp and the activities possible. without you wouldn’t have made the memoirs I have today.
orange + water experiment
Prediction
Today Room 11 did a science experiment to see if different fruit could float. I thought the orange would sink because of how heavy it was. We also noticed that the orange we picked was really big so that’s why we assumed that it would sink.
Materials
1.fruit
2.water
3.bucket
Method
All you need to do to remake this science experiment is to get your bucket. Fill it up with water and put it on a flat surface. Once that’s done you want to pick a fruit or just choose an orange.
Now you want to put the fruit into the bucket of water to see if it floats.
evaluation
We thought that it would sink but…..
It didn’t
We actually noticed that it was the skin that was keeping the orange afloat. We noticed that when we decided to take the skin off the orange. After that we tried a kiwi fruit but it sank straight away. Then when it sank so we tried to take the skin off. So once we did that we put it in the water and it sank.
volleyball
Volleyball by Kaedyns
Thursday 16 of June 2022, Room 11 had a session of volleyball in the hall with Coach Cam.
First we started off with sorting out the teams. After that we were on the sideline waiting for the first game to finish so we could play our own game.
When they finished their game we replaced the team that had lost.
We got into our positions. After they striked we missed the ball, letting them get the point. But we won the serve back and went on to score a point.
We co-operated by communicating.
